THE SET-UP: Condensation is the transformation of a gas into a liquid. It’s a common phenomenon you’ve seen and felt more times than you count. It’s found on water droplet-covered windows, on fogged-up bathroom mirrors and on the “sweat” that drips off a glass when you pick up an icy drink. It happens when warm air suddenly cools and once-warm gas particles begin to slow down. That cooling and slowing gives the particles a chance to bond and clump into … water.
Condensation is how clouds are made.
Condensation is also where the “con” in contrails comes from. As Space.com explains:
Contrails are created when the hot water vapor emitted by a jet engine after combustion cools and condenses in Earth’s atmosphere, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The atmosphere’s temperature and humidity must be in just the right place for condensation to occur — the air must be cold with some humidity.
Contrails most commonly form at an airplane’s cruising altitude, between about 32,000 and 42,000 feet (10,000 to 13,000 meters) in the upper troposphere, per the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI), because that’s where those conditions are found. Because the atmosphere is ever-changing, conditions might not be right for contrail formation at this altitude, which is why not all airplanes create contrails during every flight.
Basically, a “contrail” is a cloud generated by human activity. Sometimes the thin white trail of condensation billows and grows and drifts across the sky. In a highly trafficked airspace you might see two or more that appear to cross-hatched … or they drift into being cross-hatched. If the conditions are right, drifting, expanding contrails can eventually fill the sky.
And that’s it. It’s just simple, easy-to-understand physics.
But that’s too easy and too simple for RFK Jr. He suspects there is something more than mere physics at play. He, along with a committed cadre of suspicious Americans, is afraid there is some nefarious chemistry hidden in the contrails:
The concept posits that airplane vapor trails, or contrails, are really “chemtrails” containing toxic substances that poison people and the terrain. Another version alleges planes or devices are being deployed by the federal government, private companies, or researchers to trigger big weather changes, such as hurricanes, or to alter the Earth’s climate, emitting hazardous chemicals in the process.
That’s from a new report out today from KFF Health News. It details an RFK Jr.-directed effort by the Department of Health and Human Services to uncover the “truth” about chemtrails.
What we know about it comes from “an internal agency memo obtained by KFF Health News,” from a consultant who worked on the memo and from a “former agency official” familiar with the nascent investigation:
HHS is expected to appoint a special government employee to investigate climate and weather control, according to Gray Delany, former head of the agency’s MAHA agenda, who said he drafted the memo. The agency has interviewed applicants to lead a “chemtrails” task force, said Jim Lee, a blogger focused on weather and climate who Delany said helped edit the memo, which Lee confirmed.
And what exactly are they looking for?
The memo alleges that “aerosolized heavy metals such as Aluminum, Barium, and Strontium, as well as other materials such as sulfuric acid precursors, are sprayed into the atmosphere under the auspices of combatting global warming,” through a process of stratospheric aerosol injection, or SAI.
…and…
The memo claims, without providing evidence, that the substances cause elevated heavy-metal content in the atmosphere, soil, and waterways, and that aluminum is a toxic product used in SAI linked to dementia, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, asthma-like illnesses, and other chronic illnesses.
The aforementioned Delany, who was ousted in August from HHS despite being a MAHA/MAGA “true believer,” said, “This is an issue that really matters to MAHA.” He said the same thing about his former boss. In fact, RFK Jr. was asked about “chemicals being sprayed into the stratosphere to change the Earth’s climate” during a May appearance on Dr. Phil Primetime:
“It’s done, we think, by DARPA,” Kennedy said, referring to a Department of Defense agency that develops emerging technology for the military’s use. “And a lot of it now is coming out of the jet fuel. Those materials are put in jet fuel. I’m going to do everything in my power to stop it. We’re bringing on somebody who’s going to think only about that.”
The desire to connect contrails to a nefarious climate-altering conspiracy is ironic and a bit sad. Not only is anthropogenic climate change easily explained by physics, but the obsession with uncovering a shadowy, fact-free conspiracy to alter the climate with chemicals surreptitiously “put in jet fuel” ignores the already proven oil industry plot to hide what Shell and Exxon knew decades ago about the climate-altering impact of burning hydrocarbons. And unlike chemtrails, there’s no need to unearth a hidden plan to force humankind into a dystopian “one world government” … not when the motivation is something as simple and obvious as greed.
That’s the sad part of this … RFK Jr., who’d made his name as an environmental crusader, is actually doing the oil industry’s dirty work for them. Sadder still is his decision to allocate HHS’ resources on a snipe hunt when, at the same time, he’s become an apologist for the pesticide industry. His MAHA plan for healthier kids gave the makers of pesticides and herbicides a pass after he spent years denouncing the toxic impacts of spraying poisons onto food. Food & Water Watch pulled no punches when it noticed RFK Jr.’s MAHA Commission pulled its punches:
The MAHA Commission report is most notable for what it lacks, including any recommendations to regulate toxic pesticides. An abundance of research links these ubiquitous agricultural chemicals to everything from cancers and Parkinson’s disease, to birth defects and developmental disorders.
In May, Kennedy’s team identified concerns about children’s exposure to pesticides. The backlash from food and farm industry groups was swift. The administration consequently hosted a parade of industry groups, including CropLife America, Walmart, and Coca-Cola. In fact, Kennedy testified in a recent Senate hearing that he had entertained 140 farm interest groups since May.
In keeping with White House promises to industry lobbyists, the MAHA strategy report lacks any mention of concern for pesticide exposure, parrots pesticide industry talking points, and pulls punches on pesticide regulation. It even promotes the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) pesticide review process as robust and sufficient, which couldn’t be further from the truth. This review process has routinely been proven vulnerable to corporate influence.
It’s a perfect example of “corporate capture.” That’s his favorite way to describe a government agency being in thrall to the industry it is supposed to regulate. He railed against “corporate capture” throughout his Presidential run and during his confirmation hearings.
But now?
It appears he’s part of a corporate capture and release program … and now, having been properly tagged by Big Ag and released back into the wild blue yonder, he’s now running amok and running interference at the same time. - jp
